Halloween How-To: 1920s Makeup Tutorial
Still don’t have a clue what you’re going to be for Halloween this year? Kind of over the yearly headache of coming up with a costume? Well, we are too! This year we decided to make makeup our costume, using products you probably already have in your makeup drawer. Over the next week, we’ll share three looks created by celebrity makeup artist Emily Sims, complete with makeup tutorial videos so you can create your own looks from the 20s, 70s and 80s! We had such fun making these for you and we’re excited to be branching out into video! Follow us on YouTube for more goodies like this, and tweet us or Instagram your final looks if you use these ideas for Halloween!
How To Create a 1920s Makeup Look:
- Brush grey shadow on your eyelid–we used Maybelline Color Tattoo in “Tough as Taupe”–followed by black shadow on your lash line.
- Curl your lashes and add mascara. We love Benefit!
- Now it’s time for blush. Tarte’s peachy blush called “Captivating” is an appropriately soft choice for this look.
- The pièce de résistance is the red lips! We used Kevin Aucoin liner in “Cerise,” and lipstick in “Eternal.” If you’re on a budget, Wet n Wild’s “Red Velvet” is also a good option!
