Celebrations are one of the universal human experiences. Across cultures and places, we live through life’s highs and lows. Though mourning is also universal, it’s the unique ways we express joy that captivates my attention as I travel. I’ve been on the road since 2008, and since this month’s theme is celebrate, I knew I wanted to share one of the most beautiful festivals I have been a part of over the years: Thailand’s Loy Krathong celebrations.

This week I'm headed back to the island where I lived for greater part of last year. I'm appearing in the final episode of this season of Hawaii 5-0, and if you're a fan of the show, the story is juicy, y'all! I still get my regular Hawaii fix by following my friend Amanda Finn on Instagram, (the photos of her everyday island-girl adventures with her sister Kelsey are insane and un-retouched), but its not the same as feeling those island breezes on my skin... Ooohh, I can't wait for the adventure ahead...

A recruiter calls and begins describing the “perfect” job: You’d run the department, have free creative reign, get to build your team, and you can work from home! It seems too good to be true… and that’s when she drops the bomb, “Oh, and it’s in Cleveland.” Ah. So when life throws you the “perfect” job in the “not-so-perfect” city, what do you do? Please, do yourself a favor and do what I did: Bloom where you’re planted. This means to not only move there, but move with gusto! Make the city your own, and flourish.

After a very busy six months, my hubby and I planned a long-overdue romantic weekend away. Only two hours outside of Los Angeles, Palm Springs is the perfect weekend escape for Angelenos, so after I was approached with a proposal to style Rachel's Pally's spring line, I knew the desert would make a gorgeous backdrop for some fun style photos, too.
