Get Out of Town: Monaco
Last month, I traveled to Monaco for the Monte Carlo Television Festival. My husband and I had found out we were pregnant only about a month earlier, so although the trip has been scheduled for months, it turned into a surprise babymoon for us. (And a much needed one!) Finn stayed home with my parents and Jess and I embarked on a whirlwind weekend in Monte Carlo.
Monaco is an extremely small country/principality, and the capital Monte Carlo encompasses most of it! You can easily walk across the entire country in less than a day, which is pretty incredible. It’s situated on a hillside right on the sea, so you’ll see some amazing views, and your legs will get a pretty intense workout.
During our cross-country trek, (makes it sound far more impressive) we stopped into a couple of the classic ‘must visit’ spots: Monte Carlo Casino and Cafe de Paris, which is right across the road from the casino and a good resting spot for people watching.
After a long day, our favorite thing to do was lounge by the pool and the Monte Carlo Bay Hotel is located right on the bay with some of the loveliest pools I’ve ever been to. I feel like no babymoon would be complete without plenty of downtime, and sunning myself like a lizard poolside was one of my favorite memories of the entire trip. A gorgeous hillside view, the soft breeze coming in off the bay, the sun at just the right temperature… Heaven.
We were able to stay an extra few days in the south of France, so I’ll be sharing those pictures and stories with you this week, too. If you have any favorite spots in Monaco, share your recommendations with us in the comments below!
