No celebration is quite complete without something sweet to eat. Not only do I adore entertaining, but I also love to bake. My mom was an accomplished baker, her chocolate chip cookie recipe is still talked about today among our family and friends. Though cookies were Mom's forte, I love to bake layered cakes, delicate pastries, fresh fruit pies... You name it, I'll bake it. There's something therapeutic about baking to me. I love losing myself in the focus of precise measurements, the rhythm of dough rolling, to concentrate completely on frosting a freshly baked cake. I find such joy in baking, not to mention the oh-so-sweet payoff of tasting such treats once they've been made.
Happy Mother's Day to all the moms of the world! While we may never fully realize all that our mothers have done for us, we know that we wouldn't be the people we are today without the support and love of our moms. Happy Anniversary to Ashley and Autumn who were both married in spring weddings the first week of May! They've both lived in Los Angeles for over a decade, but did you know they first met while on their honeymoons, far away from home? As much as I love mailing cards and thank-you notes, invitations are by far my favorite things to send. I'm excited by the texture and weight of the cardstock, the colorful ink, the artful fonts and designs. The month of May marks the beginning of what I like to call 'celebration season,' kicking off with Mother's Day and graduation, then turns the page to busy summer calendars often bearing pool parties, al fresco dinners, beach barbecues weddings, and of course, the Fourth of July. These joyous occasions call for equally fun invitations.
