The carefree days of summer are now behind us, which means back to standard work routines and classrooms we go! Most years, I stubbornly refuse to acknowledge the decline of temperatures and the buckle-down mentality that September ushers in; clear indications that vacations and outdoor movie nights that made up the summer have come to an end. Alas, my obstinance to fully relinquish days of sunshine and sand go unheeded and like it or not, Fall it is.
However, this year I find myself with a different outlook due to a flourish of fashionable desk accessories that make office-time rival summer-time. Sitting at a python-wrapped trestle base glass desk in a luxurious blush leather desk chair will make you feel like the most stylish CEO in the building, even if you work at home. A bevy of dazzling gold and brass office accents spice up the work area while fulfilling my intense love affair with all things gold. This lucite and gold stapler, a Wes-Anderson-vibe fox letter opener and a kitschy brass wishbone as a paperweight will certainly dress up any mundane desk. Throw black and white striped paperclips on a Fornessetti malachite tray or toss Post-Its in rose gold tins to store office essentials in the chicest manner possible. Words of encouragement from this Rifle notepad and Andy Warhol pencils are the coolest forms of motivation I can think of, especially when collected in an angular brass pencil holder. And a desk just wouldn’t be complete without a picture of your favorite companion: your kiddies, main squeeze or furry friend, displayed lovingly in a lucite and brass picture frame.
Buckling down and getting back to brass tacks might not be so bad this year!
