Arranging flowers is a profoundly meditative experience for me. It’s also ridiculous and frivolous and joyful and all my hard work dies in about a week (depressing!) but for that one beautiful week, every time I look over to that little corner of my house, my heart is happy. Instead of April showers, I think we could all use a little more spring in our lives right now, so this month we’ll be showering you with beauty and joy and celebrating all things spring.
Our theme for the month is Bloom, meaning not only the beautiful flowers of spring, but “a flourishing, healthy condition; the time or period of greatest beauty and artistry.” Spring whips up our creativity and encourages us to expand our hearts, stretch our arms and legs, get out of the house and let our bodies bloom into the warmer weather. We’ll visit a beautiful bridal shower thrown by our entertaining expert Ashley, interior designer Alyssa shows you how to incorporate florals into your home, (without going granny or country!), and Jenn Wong whips up a perfectly feminine floral cocktail for a warm weekend night. Let your heart be joyful this month and soak up all the beauty around you. Personally, I can’t wait to get to the farmers market to pick up some of my favorite spring blooms: peonies, dahlias and ranunculus. What’s your favorite sign of spring?
Bloom: “A flourishing, healthy condition; the time or period of greatest beauty and artistry.” This month we’re celebrating all things spring and ‘April-showering’ you with beauty and joy.
