An Ode to Mom

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms of the world! While we may never fully realize all that our mothers have done for us, it’s certain we wouldn’t be the people we are today without the support and love of our moms. And so, it’s our pleasure to celebrate our love for our moms here with you. Happy Mother’s Day!

“I’ll always look up to you, Mom.” 1986

My mom Kim, was taking me to tee-ball, (a sport for which I showed absolutely zero talent), but I was so happy just to be spending time with her, learning from her and loving her. I treasure all these little tiny memories even more now that I’m a mom myself, throwing a baseball to my own child in my own backyard. Time marches on and children grow up, but the seemingly insignificant moments burn brightly in our memories, and we will always look up to our mothers, no matter how tall we grow.
–Autumn

I love this photo of my mom. She looks so beautiful in this picture, but more importantly, I love how excited she looks to break into this fresh lobster for the very first time. My mom taught me to enjoy adventure. This picture is from one of the many road trips that my mom and dad took before we were born. She always loved to pick the strangest thing on a menu, ‘just to try it,’ whether it was alligator, dragon fruit, buffalo, or sea urchin. Thank you Mom, for gifting me with an adventurous spirit. I carry it with me wherever I go. –Jenn

I think it’s difficult to capture one’s spirit in a photograph, but I think this one has my mom pegged. I love that she was caught laughing, mid hay-fight, with a glass of Chardonnay in her hand. This shot truly is a moment frozen in time; it’s as if I can still hear her laugh as I gaze on this photo, I can see the twinkle in her eyes as she giggled. She was such an inspiration to me, and I still strive to be like her. Having lost my mom nine years ago, Mother’s Day is a challenging day for me, even more so now that I am a mother, too. I am so grateful to have photos like this to share with my son in the hopes that he, too can see her wild spirit, even if only captured in a photograph.
