Love Your Body

People.

Can we stop calling ourselves fat/skinny? Can we stop asking others to stop us from taking another bite, when it’s OUR VERY OWN bodies that we’re talking about? Can we stop telling others what THEY should or shouldn’t be eating? Can we stop feeling jealous or sorry or emotional about others because of what they look like?

Can we put down the magazines and close the websites that scrutinize bodies, acting as though their weight holds the key to their success or downfall? Can we stop criticizing one another’s looks? Can we stop comparing ourselves to others, including past versions of ourselves: “I used to be able to fit into these jeans….” Can we stop allowing a piece of clothing to determine how we’re going to feel about ourselves for the rest of the day?

Can we stop saying NOTHING when we hear others indulge in this language? Can we start to embrace our imperfections and encourage others to do it as well?

In all honesty, this may take more time than 10 minutes. It took me five years and is still an ongoing challenge, but it’s changed my life.

Well stated. This is exactly what we need to be doing. Thank you. (Note: I found this page as part of a search for the button image that you have. I was looking for the creator of it as we’re using it for a Facebook group built around the same principles as this post.)

I’m not sure who makes that pin. We found that image on Pinterest, but you could likely make a button like that through cafepress.
